Thanks geordiegirl ☺️ It does feel rather unfair, but no point "what iffing" or blaming government or NHS. I am in the care of some excellent doctors and nurses with great compassion. Let's just say they are working hard to reverse "the damage"... I’m glad you can look at it with such positivity it would be very easy to be angry and that does nothing but make you feel worse. Absolutely everything crossed lovely xx |

Thanks for all the comments. To add a bit more context , it's not an anxiety thing about the tests itself. It's more of a 'can't be bothered' with it. It's an attitude rather than her feelings about it. She's heard all the stories of how people could be saved if they'd got tested early and still won't go to any screening appointments. I'll keep trying. Got to. The most mental thing of all. Having missed every smear she's been offered, she's now suffering gynea issues and doesn't join the dots. Meanwhile, her bowel screening kit sits there............. As for everyone else on here going through stuff. I hope you get the treatments required and your health is restored soon. |

Having gone 7 years between smear tests on the last two occasions and had my first screening mammogram last year at 58 despite all the usual invitations and reminders, I can see where Mrs BL is at. It all felt like an extra task to fit around work and into my own time, and arranging and rearranging appointments was a task too many. And there was an element of, "I don't have a family history of breast cancer or risk factors for cervical cancer, it's not urgent." The poo stick, though. Comes through the post, you do it at home and take it to a post box. No faffing. |
