Excellent DT. I had an eye test today. The optician said I am showing the very first signs of a cataract but he reckons it'll be at least 3 to 4 years before anything needs to be done.

Excellent DT.
BL that is quite sad that these things are offered free but any treatment that may be needed (god forbid) would cost the NHS a lot more and may also save a life which indeed even on here we know it has. 5 minutes of discomfort or embarrassment could save her life.

Great News, DT!
LF, it's particularly hard when it's your nearest and dearest - can you get any of her friends on-board to have a conversation without it being obvious you were involved?

Bigleggy, tell her my story. I am currently undergoing treatment for metastasised ovarian cancer. Chemo, surgery, more chemo. At least a year out of action and it is pretty gruelling! I was tested positive for the BRCA1 gene beginning 2020. This makes me VERY prone to developing breast and ovarian cancer. I started the consultation process regarding preventative treatment. However, when I consulted with a gynaecologist on a key hole procedure to have ovaries removed to prevent cancer, it was March 2020 and Covid restrictions hit. Now it is 2023 and I STILL am not eligible for this preventative simple surgery, because of the Covid backlog. However: it is also too late!!! I have developed full blown ovarian cancer and it has spread! Moral of this story: Have the test!!! Had Covid not happened, I'd have had preventative surgery May 2020...
