Oh good, I've got company again.
Velociraptor: I was your age (55) when I ran my first ever marathon and did very little running by way of training for it. Up till 6 weeks before it I was walking the Great Outdoor Challenge, a 200 mile backpack across the mountains of Scotland. I reckon it did me a power of good strength and stamina wise. In the marathon I won the M55 category and reckon it was the day I graduated, the true launch of my running career. So yeah, cross training can be just as effective as running...

You will indeed orbness, welcome to the world of Fetch. That's a cracking time at parkrun for only being serious about running for a year.

Happy, That's the first time I've managed over 73% and only the second time over my highest ever 71.68% from 2018. In fact my only other time was the week before my 73%, I'm hoping wava's are like buses and all come at once ;-)

Nooooooo! Keep posting! I like to go as fast as I can as a personal challenge but it's not all about winning, there's always plenty who can run faster (even if they didn't turn up on a particular day) and plenty slower (ditto).

I'd certainly swap any number of wins/placings in minor events at V50 for the ability to keep enjoying running into my 70s and perhaps 80s. Let's face it none of us are drawing fame and fortune from it.

How about keeping one’s wava higher than one’s actual age? That’s doable isn’t it?
