It's gone very quiet on here. Is everyone on sabbatical, fled the country or too involved with mundane matters to have any time left for posting? C'mon, what are you all up to? I feel to have run half way round Yorkshire since DT's last comment......

I did flee the country, temporarily. First-ever long haul flight at the age of 55 :) Came home having developed a serious walking addiction and a taste for vegan oriental food.

Had my first MV50 parkrun last weekend. Thought better chance of better category placing? No such luck! Overtaken by a MV55 in last half mile, and two other MV50s ahead of me! Oh well, guess the MV50 category is somewhat competitive!

Half marathon this weekend. First "race" as MV50, but unfortunately I'm not in great shape. I'd be happy with a 70% WAVA (which is about 7 mins slower than PB! :-) G

In my first F55 parkrun I came second in my age category in a time that would have had me first F50. I love that the senior vet categories remain competitive.

Runningwise, I think I'm coming back from my ITB troubles. I've done around 20 miles of running in the last 6 days, and walked almost 20 miles yesterday (a non-running day). My autumn marathon build-up will include less running and more cross training than my spring marathon, partly because of the knee and partly because riding a bike is more fun in the summer.

Did manage an all-course parkrun PB recently and therefore also wava best, nothing particularly spectacular but it's nice to know I'm keeping reasonably fit through a summer where running has taken a bit of a back seat to cycling and some swimming. Will be back on the (metaphorical) treadmill in August perhaps to prepare for York marathon in Oct.

Hello, still relatively new to the form. I'm 51, started being serious about running about a year ago.

Out of 500 odd folk at the Bedford parkrun, I can finish top 40, at 21;50 ish, and still be 7th in my age category. there are some 55+ ahead of me too! Quality mature folk in Bedford!

HappyG I'd love to be 70% wava unfit :-)

Having said that, I did manage my highest ever wava last week at parkrun 73.38%.

Project Joker training all done and a 6 mile race tonight before having another pop at the 5k distance next week. Then in 3 weeks time I shall have my 3rd various race distance of the year which will give me my first race standard of the year. Over half way through the year and only ran parkrun so far but now they're all coming at once, 6m, 10m and 10k all within 5 weeks.

Hi orbness, welcome to Fetch forums! I'm newer than you in here (50 years and 2.5 weeks old!) so can't tell you much about this thread, but the natives seem friendly.

FF - so you are way over 70% in your WAVA! Better than me then! :-) G
