I have just started pool swimming with a 735xt and the first 3 times it seemed to be way over what I was swimming. I watched a you tube and decided to lap it every 25 metres but that didn't work after the first 25. After that it was hit and miss if it recorded at all.

my 735xt is pretty good for breastroke in the pool - it usually manages to dock me one length rather than add any. Rubbish on gps mode in the lake doing breaststroke though - have to remember to hold hand out of the water for a little while at the turn.

Looby Loo, I'm not sure it would have a single length long enough for an open water swim equivalent. I got a tow float with a pocket inside and it keeps the watch out of the water well enough to have a very good gps trace.

My wife seems to get pretty good results generally with her 735xt in pool or open water, though she’s front crawl at least 90% of the time.

Thanks guys I think because I’m a poor swimmer building up stamina I’m faffing in between some laps and that’s the problem. Need to work harder I think.

yes LL, it usually works fine. The grip I have with it is the minimum pool length doesn't go low enough for teeny tiny hotel pools

Linds, you couldn't just bunk off on Friday afternoon and go to London Fields?
