Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I have just started pool swimming with a 735xt and the first 3 times it seemed to be way over what I was swimming. I watched a you tube and decided to lap it every 25 metres but that didn't work after the first 25. After that it was hit and miss if it recorded at all.

my 735xt is pretty good for breastroke in the pool - it usually manages to dock me one length rather than add any.
Rubbish on gps mode in the lake doing breaststroke though - have to remember to hold hand out of the water for a little while at the turn.

Looby Loo, I'm not sure it would have a single length long enough for an open water swim equivalent. I got a tow float with a pocket inside and it keeps the watch out of the water well enough to have a very good gps trace.

My wife seems to get pretty good results generally with her 735xt in pool or open water, though she’s front crawl at least 90% of the time.

Thanks guys I think because I’m a poor swimmer building up stamina I’m faffing in between some laps and that’s the problem. Need to work harder I think.

yes LL, it usually works fine.
The grip I have with it is the minimum pool length doesn't go low enough for teeny tiny hotel pools

Linds, you couldn't just bunk off on Friday afternoon and go to London Fields?

There didn't seem to be a thread devoted to open water swimming, so I thought I'd start one.
