That sounds really scary Jules, I would just be throwing up for the whole swim!

Boing!
I swam 3k this morning, bloody hard work by the end and I was cold as well. I'm now recovering on the sofa with coffee and crumpets!

Well done LN, enjoy recovery treats, well deserved & I'm green with envy, seem to have a mental block about sea swimming here.

So we did our Corryvreckan crossing from Jura to Scarba yesterday. It's meant to be 1.1km but apparently we got put in the water 20 minutes early when rip tides were still ripping and whirlpools gently whirling, so Garmin said 1.65km. We jumped off the back of the boat which went ahead of us to the side for protection from other passing boats (didn't spot any). Progress was either really swift or none at all depending on micro-tides.
There was one patch of water where I felt red jellyfish across my hand and face but no stings, just a creepy feeling. The three of us ended up miles apart because of tides and I got pretty close to Scarba at the end, but the last 50m or so was like an endless pool where rip tide was against so I was making zero progress at maximum effort. Let's try and link to the pic in Fetch Gallery......
