Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

That looks a very lovely place to swim on equally lovely day, just what I needed to see, inspires me to get back in the sea (13.9 today) here in Weymouth, but the chilly breeze, however sunny, puts me off
LNemo, you're inspiring too, I can't currently manage more than 20 minutes in sea.

I couldn't do such long swims in the sea, ferret! I don't really like the waves or the salt, lakes all the way for me :-)

Haha at the moment I much prefer lakes too, but need to change that, sea is now just down the road. Going to try a different place where there's a fresh water shower. Respect for triathletes doing sea swims, saltwater chafes :-0

While we were on St Agnes today the water looked gorgeous so I thought I'd have a swim when we got back to St Mary's. Almost as soon as we landed a sea fret rolled in and all thoughts of a skins swim in the Atlantic were quickly shelved :-(

Swam in the sea by Prestopans during Edinburgh 70.3 yesterday morning where conditions were the toughest I've ever been in.
Race organisers cut the swim from 1.9k down to 0.95k but waves were about 10 foot high battering everyone particularly down a 300m stretch parallel to the shore.
Breaststroking wasn't really an option as waves were breaking over us, so wave surfing was the only good way of sighting buoys.
Lots of folk got cutoff (35 minutes for 0.95km) but it was seriously wild & anything else will feel flat calm:)
