Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

They are lovely, Mandy, and a great idea for using up that yarn.

I love an owl! I crocheted loads of them one year for a stall at a local fair. Those are fab, Mandy, and what a great way to use up yarn.

I can crochet amigurumi, I even sold a pattern on ravelry to an American yarn company (that’s quite a funny story)

But I’ve struggled with my basic granny square blanket! I’ve got about 8 rounds in and someone suggested I started going backwards around in alternate rows and I’ve not got any further! No matter I’ve got 2 knitting projects on the go at the moment, I’m spinning on my spindle for Tour de Fleece and contemplating cutting out a sewing pattern!

I found doing one giant continuous granny square got deathly dull fairly quickly, whereas doing patchwork with smaller squares seemed easier, despite having to sew them together.

A bigger square will be more likely to distortion or twisting. They also seem to be slower and slower as they get bigger.

You could make small ones to sew round the edge of the big one if you fancy a change of tack.

Side to side blankets can be an alternative as each row is a fixed length and you know how long it will take to do and how much yarn is needed after you've done a few rows. The Attic24 site shows techniques and it's a lot less boring than just trebles.
