Thank you fraggle I'll take a look.

Feeling like a right numpty now as I don't even have enough of the backing fabric and can't remember where that came from to try to get more. So back to the drawing board in that regard too.

I've ordered some more from Doughty's now and will amend with that. Figured out that the backing came from Doughty's, and while they don't have any more of the same I can work around it.

Doing a log cabin quilt-as-you-go, so each square has a square of backing fabric too - which means you can make a pattern on the back if you like, as well as on the right side. Suspect I was guilty of assuming all cottons were 140cm rather than 115cm, hence under-ordering.

I've got a new pattern for a dress in a jersey fabric, and the instructions are saying to double stitch the seams (sew, then sew again in the seam allowance) then overlock. All the other patterns I've done for jersey fabric say either sew or overlock the seams. Do people think the double stitching is necessary? Admittedly they are princess seams, but still... Any thoughts welcome!

Double stitch AND overlock? That seems unnecessary unless they have a lot of strain on them

Unless they're trying to make it fray-proof going forward. That would probably do the trick!

Potential craft question

I have a pile of A5 paper taken out of half used notebooks

Anyone got a tried and tested way to make them into a book of sorts?

Staple them together as close as possible then get some card of sorts and make a cover for the resulting book.
