Looking for suggestions... I've got a Big Event coming up. It's going to be online, so only my head and shoulders will be visible.
I would like to wear something I've made myself, so I'm thinking of knitting a short sleeved, round necked top (possibly slightly scooped, but basically not low). Because it's online, I need to avoid narrow stripes, and probably too much lace around the neckline.
It'll be at the end of June, so might be hot - I'm thinking I won't want wool, so maybe linen, cotton, silk?
I usually like bright colours, and unusual techniques or constructions. But for this I'm thinking I maybe need to be a bit toned down (no stripes ). Maybe colour blocks using intarsia? Or a vertical cable or lace panel down the centre front? lace around the sleeves and the bottom of the body?
I can put a pattern together myself, but does anyone have any suggestions? And does anyone have any favourite yarns that might work?

Yesterday I was looking at Hearten by Kim Hargreaves on Ravelry. A cropped cardigan.. maybe an idea?
But I’m no good with yarn suggestions..

Cables usually work well in cotton., but I get cross when the fabric stretches with wear.

The Great Raemondo
Finally got around to blocking my first foray into the the world of brioche... I'm pretty chuffed with it. One skein of sock weight unbelieawool mermaid hair, and three or four (smaller ones, obviously) of Lang sockwool in three different colours.

The Great Raemondo
Thanks, GM
I was so in love with the colours while I was working on it I'm genuinely quite sad it's finished now. I don't have anything quite as enthralling on the needles at the moment, need to find the right next obsession.

After finishing my shawl/wrap - I never really know what to call it; one sounds like something I've made for Red Riding Hood's granny and the other is food in a tortilla - I've been perusing RAvely to find my next knit. I've got yarn from when I was playing with knitting in 2016 that I really didn't get on well with. I feel more experienced and more patient now so have found a pattern from a cardigan to use up the Drops Melody yarn that has been sitting in bag for the last 4 years. But first, I have socks to knit so I can finally tick off those 2 projects!

Girlie, love your socks. Lovely colours. See you are using Winwick mum pattern. I started sock knitting using Winwick mum step by step instructions on her website and also her You tube videos. Rae, that’s a lovely shawl. I don’t have the patience for shawls. I got about halfway through my first and then unravelled it. I think it might have been the yarn I was using. Didn’t like knitting with it.
