I was watching spm on this morning's sesh: 30 minutes in chunks of 3 minutes of which 2 at 24 spm 2k+14 and 1 at 28 spm 2k+10. I found myself struggling to hold the pace at 24 spm but hitting the higher target at 26-28 spm. Doesn't sound too fearsome a workout but like all of RowAlong's it was well calibrated (for me anyway) and it began to bite in the second half. A fairly energetic run yesterday might have been taking its toll too.

But it's all good. Onwards and upwards!

Edit: should read 28 spm 2k+8.

Had to switch my UT1 session planned for tomorrow AM to this evening because I need to give Mrs Nellers a lift to work in the morning. Really didn't feel like getting on the erg tonight but I did and after the warmup I actually felt OK. Not great but OK.

2 x 15 minutes @ r22 later and I've done my fastest UT1 pieces this year. Sometimes the most important ability is availability. Turning up and getting it done works, it would seem.

Well done Muttley, I'm really enjoying the Rowalong sessions and tonight's mid tier session from the 5k plan had a similar speed bump to yours - 3x8' with the 8' made up of 6'@r24, 1'@r26, 1'@r28.

Nice work Nellers, it's a nice feeling when you get a session done early šŸ˜

This looks an interesting in-person rowing competition - 4 workouts in one hour (well it's actually 46 minutes)

That's brilliant Nellers and maybe an indication that I should have got back to it yesterday even though I didn't want to! I know my 5000m PB was done as a reluctant row after cycling home.

One of the things I like about doing a short warm up is that even if I don't feel like rowing before I get on, the warm up usually gets me in the right frame of mind.

Thanks both. I have most of my sessions set up as favourites ont he app now with a warm up included. Most of the time that's a help but occasionally I get the warm up done and still don't feel like it, but I'm kind of committed by that stage. Again, sometimes that works out, sometimes it doesn't.

Craggy, that does sound good. Kind of like a mini-Versa challenge. Interesting to see that the photo on the event page is of Sam Briggs, former CrossFit World Champion.

Yeah it does look like a mini Versa challenge, with a nice all out minute to finish. I thought it was her, I think it's part of FitXpo which includes Functional Fitness, Bodybuilding, MMA, Strongman etc and I think she was a guest speaker last year.

It's often the sessions you don't feel like doing that turn out to be the good ones. Slight case of CBA for me this morning but I decided to man up. Stroke ladders of 10 minutes, at 4-3-2-1 minutes and 20-22-24-26 spm, 2 minutes to recover. Did four and then showboated on a fifth at 22-24-26-28 spm. Now slightly fatigued :-)

Nice one, Muttley. I always liked that 4-3-2-1 ladder format. Don't do it very often but it's a good one and it certainly blows out any cobwebs!

3 x 18 min @ r20 for me this evening. Nothing flashy but it's definitely getting the work done.
