Is Mr Rowalong a Fetchie? After the discussions on here about strapless drill he's posted a new video today about...........strapless rowing being the answer!

Anyone seen this? insideindoor.com

I saw from a FB post that it's going to become the new home for the c2ctc, a challenge I've been doing on and off for over 15 years. Looks like it's already got some good traction in the indoor rowing world.

The British Rowing website was linking to it to get access to their 2km training plans but they're only available with a paid subscription so I didn't bother. It does have some workouts and technique stuff on there free but the plans and more involved stuff is all paywalled.

Looks very slick but no thanks if I have to sign up just to "discover" what's there or pay to access it properly.

Like with running, the foundations of a decent rowing plan are pretty much immutable and there's only so much variety you can inject. With plenty already available (Pete Plans, C2's own stuff, RowAlong, Wolverine) it's hard to see what this site can bring to the party.

Might be good for the serious competitive guys seeking expert coaching to eke out that extra little bit when racing at the sharp end but that is definitely not me so I'll pass on this one.

I've signed up but only at the free level so I can make use of some of the options and facilities, Muttley. I think that's worth it if that's where things like online competitions and challenges are going to be hosted.

And I agree almost entirely on the rowing plans thing. There are enough plans and sessions out there that we can all mix and match to get to somethign that works for us.

If you want to go that extra mile and have something more specific to your needs put together by an expert you need to do that one-to-one with a coach, not with an off-the-peg plan online.

I created a login there so I can enter the c2ctc when it comes around. All the training plans I could find weren't behind a paywall if you do that. I may have missed something though?

I doubt I'll have the inclination to follow a plan at the moment, but you never know. There was a similarly named site a few years ago that had a rowing league - you completed various distances each month and it age graded them. That was quite good, I wonder if this has sprung out of that idea. Good to have something with a UK slant, at least.

Don’t mean to boast but I just did 40 minutes @r20 and made exactly 800 strokes.😇

I don’t think think I’ve ever hit it spot on like that before.

I think Inside indoor was launched by British Rowing a year ago as per the briefing in the link below. It's good to see the C2CTC website is being moved and updated there as apparently the CTC website has barley changed since it was launched 19 years ago 😯

I do remember that similarly named site Oranj, it was run by Mr Rowalong if we're thinking of the same site, he also ran the FMMC (Fitness Matters Monthly Challenge) when he was involved with Fitness Matters.

Nice Nellers, I struggle to hit exactly 20 strokes when I'm just doing 20x1' @r20 🤣

Normal service has been resumed. Last night was 2 x 15 mins @ r22. Although the app recorded them as being r22 there was an awful lot of r23 going on and a bit of r24 and r21 at times!

Close enough, though.
