My rower is 5 years old approx and only once needed a battery change. It's not used as much as it should be or I would like though.

Definitely longer than six-monthly but I'm not really sure what the battery life on mine is to be honest. I've definitely had at least three battery changes but that's since 2018 and there have probably been more.

OK, this is pretty interesting. Perhaps I should've included some more options beyond 6 months!

I often wondered how C2s in gyms cope, but perhaps my PM is unusual that it eats batteries so quickly. In the past I just bought cheap ones from the corner shop but because I knew I'd be using it a bit more I splashed out on duracells. It didn't make much difference. The PM definitely goes to sleep when I'm not using it, and it runs the latest firmware.

It says here I should get 200 hours. The PM3 and 4 got nearly double that, it looks like https://www.concept2.com/service/monitors/pm5/troubleshooting/battery-issues#:~:text=Under%20normal%20circumstances%2C%20a%20set,operational%20time%20in%20a%20PM5. I've had my PM5 from new, I wonder if I got a defective one.

[I had a PM4 for a while but I'm pretty sure mine had standard D cells, so there must've been two versions of that. I don't recall the PM4, or the PM3 I had before that, going through batteries quite so quickly as this one does.]

Not sure why they didn’t continue this idea. Especially for gyms.

That would be so useful!

I'm going to have to run the tests on the Support page. I managed to find the quick start guide that came with my PM5 but the receipt is long lost.

I know it’s a silly question but is the firmware up to date?

There have been a few recent updates.

TBH, it did this battery drain thing even before the firmware updates that came through this year. Nice that with the last couple I can now update the PM with bluetooth rather than having to plug it into something.
