This morning was 3 x 12 minutes, of which 8 at 20 spm and 4 at 28 spm. A decent runup and then a good thrash. Satisfyingly sweaty. And ... (tadaa!) I'm on your tail, Jef |

In a change for this thread, I ran a bit today. Foot feeling a bit sore now. I did pacing duties at parkrun, with a 28 minute duty (spoiler: I ran it in 28:00). But after a rest day yesterday (since 32 days in row would just be too many), I had a pop at this month's c2ctc challenge: c2ctc.com I've gone with Team Rowalong since the Fetch team doesn't have enough to form a boat. I quite enjoyed the challenge of rowing the 5x 3minutes pieces at specific stroke rates, hitting exactly 81, 90, 99, 90 & 81 strokes - more mental maths during exercise. It did make me think that I need to hit dome PBs this month, with proper rest days and that sort of tactical thing. That's the first attempt. Hoping to upgrade now I know what that feels like. Set 2 felt great; set 4 was a struggle. And set 5 felt slow at r27 by comparison. |

Listened to Kermode and Mayo's final film review show on the BBC while driving home from Leicester this afternoon. Kermode reviewed a film called "The Novice" which is about a uni rower. Kermode said that he now has the mantra "legs-back-arms, arms-back-legs" imprinted on his brain. Which is nice. Also said that although it's about a Uni rower, it's not a film about rowing so, he says, it's suitable for a non-rowing audience which might help us all getting our significant other/family to watch it with us. |

I saw this at the cinema last week as a 'surprise film' Odeon do occasionally. She trains on a Concept 2 a *lot*. Never have you seen a RowErg filmed so well from so many angles for so much screen time. |

Watching the BBC's coverage of the boat race earlier I was intrigued by the teams training on C2s which looked as though the feet moved as well as the seat. Or maybe they were just going so fast I was confused!

Yes, you push your feet away from you rather than pushing your body away from your feet (your seat can move too). They can be linked together in a line as well which requires you to move in sync with everyone else in the chain. I used one once, it takes a bit of getting used to!

Or was it sliders, like these? If I could row 1:09 splits, I'd be tempted to get some. |
