10 minutes easy rate on your he rower this morning to see if the ankle works enough.
Good news is that I’ll be back on the rower a bit more over the next however-long-it-takes again.
Bad news is that it’s because running is definitely off the table for a while.

Sorry to hear that, Nellers. At least you have the rower to fall back on, but it’s not the same, is it? Mend quickly!

Oh no Nellers! I hope it's just a short hiatus.
I've been bothered by tennis elbow for the last few months, so avoided the C2. But I do want to do the January challenge of 20 rows in the month, so will get back on it. I should be able to manage it if I'm careful with my form.

Thanks for the welcome CW. Like Nellars, I'm here due to running injury (long-term plantar fasciitis) but have been covered to the C2 because of that.
I've still got a long way to go, but had a shot at my 5k time yesterday (fuelled by Christmas Dinner the previous day?) which felt like my softest target. I did take 10s off it, but anything at a slightly higher pace pushed me over the edge It's a fine line at the limit.
There's not a huge difference between my 2k pace (1:54) and my 10k pace (1:59) when going for it. Is that usual? I guess my 5k/10k/HM run paces are all fairly similar too, but I've always thought that was just me, built more for comfort than top end speed.

Probably a sign that you are pretty fit aerobically but you’re still developing the anaerobic range. It will come with time and the right training.
As with running it’s easier to put the speed on top of a good aerobic base than to try to build endurance under a speedy peak.
Back to basics for me this morning. 20/15/10/5 minute pieces at r18. Clocked a smidge over 12km including the easy rests. Feel much better for having been able to do something.
(Then I stuffed my face with a load of breakfast pastries, but I’d earned them so that’s ok isn’t it?)

“As with running it’s easier to put the speed on top of a good aerobic base than to try to build endurance under a speedy peak.”
That’s good advice, Nellers, and something I should pay more attention to! I’ve always preferred sprinting to endurance stuff, so want to rush the base-building phase so i can get stuck into the intervals.
And that’s a good session to have under your belt, Nellers, and definitely earned breakfast pastries. My problem is I’ve had too many pastries on loan over the past few months and now need to start paying them back!

CW, I’m avoiding the scales at the moment because my waistbands are telling me as much bad news as I can cope with at the moment.
When my Achilles/heel (because I’m now not sure if it’s a tendon or bone issue) “went” I didn’t dare risk the rower for a while and couldn’t do any weight bearing stuff so just as the Christmas eating/drinking arrived my training pretty much stopped!
I’m calling it my bulking phase but unfortunately not much of the sun xtra weight is muscle mass.

That's frustrating Nellers, you was progressing nicely with your running, hope it's nothing too serious mate! Enjoy your bulking up 😁 I'm having Toblerone for breakfast 👌

Another session done before an unhealthy breakfast for me today: UT1 - 2 x 12:30 @ r20. Counting warm up and down a bit over 10km done.
Enjoyed that.
(Craggy: I’ve got a consultation booked for next week to see about a proper diagnosis and book whatever tests and scans they think are necessary then I’ll know a bit more. BUPA through work is a very good thing at times like this!)

Nellers - I haven’t used scales for years for that reason! Glad you’ve got a consultation booked and hope you get a quick diagnosis and treatment plan.
