Happy New Year to all rowers on Fetch (and anyone else passing by this thread). Well done all for some great rowing and resolutions.
With a visit to the in-laws in Yorkshire, I'll be starting the rowing year in a few days. But I went for my furthest row yet yesterday with a half-marathon, so a good way to end the year.

How was your bum after a Half Marathon row sitting in the car for the long drive to Yorkshire _andy?

Cheers guys. An easy four hour NYD drive was fine, thanks. After hamstrings woes with my first 10k not long ago, I was expecting bad things, but it's OK.
Maybe the easy pace helped - aiming for sub 1:40 helped... no! not /500m pace, but hours and minutes, which was pretty relaxed. I'm guessing that helped.
Full marathon soon? But all in good time.

I find the discomfort is almost as much from time on the seat as it is the effort, _andy. Glad yours had no lasting side effects (other than an increase in fitness, obviously!).
A full marathon is not something I can mentally face even now! Good luck if you do go for it.

HNY to all. 30 min row today. Aiming for some form of exercise every day this year. Parkrun yesterday and rowing today, so off to a good start. Also aiming for the BRICs this year. I turn 50 in September so a new age category. Might revisit this later in the year and start training properly.

I tip my hat to the metre monsters ... an hour is about as much as I can handle before getting saddle sore, knackered, or bored.
On the subject of metres, I'm not going to hit my target for the year by sitting on my arse so this morning's sesh was 3 x 15 mins with the spm in 3-min chunks at 20-22-24-20-22. The drop back to 20 is surprisingly hard and it was a bit of sweatfest overall.

Nice session, Muttley.
Talking of metre monsters have you seen the league table this morning? Talk of _andy maybe thinking about a full marathon row later in the year and someone's only gone and done one. Not a name I recognised, though.
Anyway, I got a UT1 session done this morning of 3 x 11 minutes @ r20. 13km with the warm up and down so not a bad session. Enjoyed that, and it was a bit cooler. When I rowed on NYD I had to have the shed door open and 2 fans running. It was 17C which is just stupid!

Yes, I noticed that. If I have figured out the calculation correctly, 7.47 to the mile equates to about 2:30/500m pace. Which is not bad at all.

Back to work and back in the office for me today so I got up early and did a 45 minute @ r18 UT2 session this morning. I think it’s about to go from “nice and cool” in the shed to “bloody hell!” Over the next few days.
