I cannot imagine how my arse would feel after rowing a marathon and I have zero desire to find out! A half isn't too bad but I can't think of a good reason to double it up.

Haha yes my backside was sore for the rest of the day after my 30k! I keep thinking about it but it's too hot now, I might train for one in the new year while Angies training for her marathon (run)

10,000 m this morning. The plan says to match the pace from the last 10k and then pick it up a little in the final 2,500. Done and dusted and 25 metres ahead of myself. Sounds impressive, but that's just a couple of strokes' worth out of about 1,000 ... incremental gains is what it's all about!

Sounds like you’re going well, Muttley.

Glad to see everyone’s generally doing okay at the moment. I’m struggling to find time to train during a very heavy work period but will try to keep ticking over in the meantime. Definitely no plans for a HM or FM here at the moment!

Nice gains Muttley well done!

At least by ticking over you'll keep a level of fitness CW, are you still doing your Learn2row course? I'm still waiting patiently.

I did a 45 min rate ladder tonight - 9 minute splits at r18, 20, 22, 20, 18. As it was raining heavily I rowed in the house which is something I rarely do so it was a bit of a sweaty session, my HR shot up during the third split and stayed up. Quite enjoyable though and I'm probably a few pounds lighter now 😂

Wanted something zippy tonight rather than grindy.

Settled on 10 x 500m/ 1 min rest.

Regretted it when it got grindy. ;-)

No harm in ticking over, CW. Think of it as keeping the engine going at the lights, while you wait for the red to turn green and you put the pedal to the metal ... :-)

I'm still second in the league table. This cannot be right. I can see Nellers in the rear view mirror but he'll have to work harder than that to catch me!

Ha! I like your analogy, Muttley. I have a feeling the bottom will fall out of the car if I try putting the pedal to the metal at the moment, though!

Craggy – I finished the LTR course and did a couple of additional sessions but then decided it wasn't for me. I'm glad I gave it a go, but it wasn't a great experience for me. The coaching style didn't suit me – lots of talk whereas I need demonstrations, and I'd have found more coxing helpful so we kept everything in time, as we were rowing in fours.

Hopefully your course will run soon and you'll get on a lot better than I did! I think I'm just better suited to individual sports where you're only accountable to yourself but you also get the opportunity to cheer everyone else on.
