This is an interesting app, you upload a video of yourself rowing and it gives you an analysis of your technique, it gives you a score out of 100 along with feedback. I uploaded a video from a couple of years ago and it gave me a score of 65, it said I was undercompressing, opening the back too early and had a poor recovery sequence.

I did a new video the other night, quite confident my score would be much better, but the cheeky buggers gave me a score of 54, it still said I was undercompressing and had a poor recovery sequence, but it also said I had inactive shoulders at the catch and my arms were bending too early 😂

It also gives you drills and stretches which are relevant to your weaknesses...

I don't know what I've done to it, Nellers. Annoyingly, it flared up after a steady run on a flat route. I'm told that hills and gradients stress the achilles. If it had happened after one of my bimbles along the coastal path with about 100 ft of gain per mile, I'd not be so pissed off!

Worse, the sports physio down the road has moved his practice out of town.

I shall give it a few more days, massaging and stretching it at every opportunity, and then gingerly resume. In the meantime, there is the erg.

Hope it heals quickly, Muttley. I often get referred pain in my Achilles if my lower back muscles and hamstrings are tight, so it might be worth looking at that too.

Thanks for the link to the app, Craggy. It looks interesting. Think I might give it a go as it's always good to get a bit of feedback every so often.

Definitely CW, after it said I was undercompressing I could see my shins weren't reaching vertical so I dropped my footplates by one hole, it still says I'm undercompressing but to my eyes it looks better and it feels like I'm getting more of a spring effect when I push off.

Is that first analysis a freebie or is there a payment for it?

(What with me being a tight arse I'm keen but not paying-for-it keen).

It's free Nellers, I've uploaded two videos and there's been no charge.

I did a 2000m TT today and managed a new PB of 9.19. Chuffed with that, so will try again in a few months time and see if I can knock anymore time off.

That app looks very interesting, even more so if its free. Some advice would be good I think.

Well done, Lesley. That's a decent chunk off your old time.
