You’re right about that, Nellers. Glad you ticked the session off and got a bit of the boost that you needed.

Well done Muttley, - even though it was short lived, there's still 5 days to regain gold position 😉
Good session to put you back on track Nellers well done! Sometimes a few days rest is all that is needed!
I've only done 20k this week as I've had a painful shoulder and I've spent all week trying to figure out why it hurts... it was only yesterday whilst trying to start Mums lawnmower that I remembered I'd spent 20 minutes yanking away at it last Sunday, which must be what made it hurt, it's settled down now and I managed 10k this afternoon.
My partner took part in a running race today, it was a 10k on a massive airfield and runners were set off in groups of 8 every 15 seconds, more like a time trial I suppose, but it was very easy to social distance and great to see Angela and other runners excited to be 'racing' again 😁

I saw the pics on FB Craggy. It's making me want to run all the more knowing there are actual races going on again now!
Must.
Be.
Sensible!

Haha yes I'm the same Nellers, luckily 5k is a popular race distance these days, we might be able to just about manage those 😉

Building up slowly though! Managed a 4.2km run on Friday and I’m due to do about the same tomorrow.
One thing I am seeing, though, is that “easy pace” on these short runs as set by HR zones is actually about where it was way back before the original Achilles problems flared up. The amount of rowing and other stuff I’ve been doing has given me strong legs and good cardio I guess. I really wasn’t expecting that sort of pace so quickly though.
(I’m only talking just about sub-10 minute miles. I’m not trying to run fast fast for a while yet!)

12 x 250m tonight all done at better than 1:43 with a fast one at 1:37.6 pace!
Now if only I could hold that pace for 2k!

Nice, Nellers. If only I could hit that pace...

That's all a bit short, fast and furiously eyballs-out for me ...
I might have said this before, but the erg is great for easing up bashed legs. Yesterday's run was just a steady bimble but this morning for some reason the achilles and hammies are definitely playing up. But after 8,500 metres on the erg they are definitely looser, although I might put tomorrow's planned run back by a day or two. The erg can't prevent the encroaching age and decrepitude but it can hold it off for a little longer!

Nice progress on the running Nellers! I was the same when I started running in January, after a couple of weeks of finding my land legs my pace was better than expected thanks to my rowing fitness! I get no pain when I run but my knee does lock up sometimes which puts me off doing much running as it's bloomin' painful when it happens.
Very nice sprints btw strong pace!
I agree Muttley the erg is great for loosening off any post run muscle tightness!

The new season starts on Saturday and looking back at this seasons logbook I've only logged two ranking pieces - a one minute and a half marathon. I'd like to get back to training for and doing more time trials and challenges next season, and fingers crossed BRIC will return this year. Anyone else got any plans/targets for the new season?
