Last night, breezy, dry, mild, much clear sky - and a route avoiding the boggier parts of the coastal park. Lakeside, docks and a whole lotta beach. 64 min.

I wouldn’t call it a special talent Gobi more just something I weirdly enjoy doing. I also feel that putting the hard miles in solo prepares me for my races better as i alway seem to end up doing a chunk toward the end solo ( probably because the marathons I enter are fairly low key ones)

Nice running over the last couple of days everyone

riggys99 it's a compliment for sure

Even running 2.40 at London you spend a lot of time on your own after half way.

Bungay Black Dog was pretty much a solo run from about 3 miles except when I caught 3rd and ran with him for a few miles.

Marathons with half's in them are also funny as you trot along in a group and then suddenly bang you're all alone as they go left and you go right.

Strangest ones for being on your own without being on your own are track marathons and ultras. They are very surreal in that respect.

I raced a lot which made me do the necessary effort.

The irony is I was quite happy to run around 8mm for 4hrs plus on a treadmill !!

Thanks Gobi may try a ultra next year (probably 50 or 60k) and tempted with doing the Saturday and Sunday Maravan (just over marathon distance) this November.

You can do 50k without any changes from marathon training. It isnt far enough :-)

Once past 50k those longer runs start to matter

I ran about 70 marathon and ultras, all marathons were done just to support the ultras except for last year when I did one to defy the doctors. Sadly Doctors were right I shouldn't have done it. There will not be another :-)

Trying a run tomorrow for the first time in a week. Knee pain has subsided, but if this flares it up again I don't know what I'll do. Cry, probably.

Today was one of the worst weather kinds, except that it wasn't windy: rain on slushy snow, about +1C. I had a short recovery run after inetervals yesterday, down at the harbour where cables and wood are loaded.

7.6 miles, mostly with my son. As is only right, he sauntered along chatting while I recorded what my Garmin classified as "VO2max".

The long run is my favourite run of the week.
