Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

I thought that higher HRV is better than low HRV because the more relaxed you are, the more variation there is between individual beats so having high values is good, low values isn't. Having a high variation between beats means that your body is responsive to impulses from both sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system.

Does Garmin give you the absolute value, e.g. a 67 ms variation between beats or is the number you get a score that it derived from the measurement which could mean anything, e.g. on a scale from 0 (bad) to 100 (excellent)?

High is better - up to a point, but it does warn for going to far above baseline range.

https://help.elitehrv.com/article/78-is-a-higher-hrv-always-better#:~:text=If%20your%20HRV%20rises%20abnormally,recovery%20(Parasympathetic%20NS%20activity).

Still getting unbalanced (low) hrv with low training readiness.
Apparently now ‘recovery’ as load has drifted to low.
Actually got 8 hours or so “ excellent “ sleep -apparently, so hopefully I’ll feel better soon and do something about thatvtraining load.

Not sure how much of feeling grotty is autosuggested from Garmin’s scores earlier in week though…

Heat acclimation 13%
I will try to get 100% this summer.
As long as I get days over 22°C for a while it might happen :)

Latest ios upgrade had turned the location thingy off on my phone - so watch hasn’t been getting the weather and thus no acclimatisation number. Going to aim to use this warm patch to acclimatise if I can though.

No heat acclimation on the 255 but in my session today, there was a clear point where the elevated HR due to the heat made a difference. Didn't help that I'd run faster than normal earlier as well. Not off the cliff pace wise for the efforts but recovery was slower.

Was still able to hill sprint well after which was pleasing.

My Garmin doesn't give any info about heat acclimatisation. I'd think I'm well on the way with that after a Mediterranean cruise and yesterday's run. Currently my Garmin status is....

BB - 49 now, down from 82 when I got up. "Your Body Battery is down 12 points since noon. You kept your body battery at a good level today. You have the energy for light activities if desired."
VO2 max - superior 48
Training status - Maintaining - High Aerobic Shortage
Load - optimal 750
Sleep Score - good 88 for 7h 40m "continuous"
RHR - 48 so a bit up compared to my usual.
Suggested run - base 10:10/mi 42:00 - nope, cross training day today.

Thanks for the added info, Rosehip. I also read that age plays a part so 'good' values are relative to the person.

I'm getting heat acclimation but not HRV. Because I've been outside in 25-28°C for a couple of days now, I am 27% acclimated, according to Garmin. I don't run a lot right now, my hay fever is going crazy so I've started to take medication and I'm suffering quite a bit in the heat. A 30 min run is as tiring as 60-80 min in winter or early spring.

Am still unbalanced at the low end, still no sign of any heat acclimatisation numbers

About This Thread

Maintained by EvilPixie
According to my Garmin this morning my body battery was at just 41 and I was "strained"
I have been strained for most days in the last 2 weeks
My body battery has also been low

So today it suggested a threshold run of up to an hour!

What's your Garmin say?
