Mine (735) is fine today - is there a specific type or model that's affected?
I though GPS was fro the satellite position & signal. Not using earth magnetic fields?

(although I can share GPS jamming warnings on Salisbury Plain, if interested)

flanker Thanks. My 245 is on software version 10.40 (2604f88) which is the latest version. Garmin Express just downloaded a few more updates and the software version has remained the same.

Santa Badgey Yes, I am using 310XT, 235 and 245, but all for different activities. I have noticed that when I update the 245 via Garmin Express it downloads activities that were uploaded from the 235. Is that what you mean? That the many 245 "updates" are actually 235 training downloads? Although the number of 235 training downloads is far less than the number of updates.
It doesn't happen in the reverse direction - i.e. not from 245 to 235. The 235 has only a few updates a week.

OH & I went on the same walk today. His Vivoactive 4S GPS was all over the place. My Fenix 7s was bob-on. My Fenix has "All Systems" set for Satellites, not "All + Multi-Band".

My Vivo 4 has been off both times I've tracked an activity today. Starts about 300m off to the east and then takes about 20 minutes to right itself.

Yes - maybe not all of them, but some of them. The true up is more advanced on the 245 than the 235, so more things transfer to the newer unit than back to the older. Just had a peek at Express on my PC. Haven’t connected my Fenix 5 up in a while and it has 343 updates waiting, almost all Activity Summary or Biometrics Data which are both True Up items. In Express, click on the device then View Details in the queue and it’ll show you what’s waiting.

Beginning to sound like the gps issue is with the generation of chips the Fenix 6 and so on use. It’s not the same as the 735 or the Fenix 7. So it’s probably a duff CPE file, which are specific to the manufacturer of the gps chip.

Interesting. Just looked back. The track for my run yesterday was a bit wonky but tonight’s was all over the shop till 4m (which would have been about 9.10pm when it jumped back on track and was then fine. Fenix 6S. I wonder if it’s an issue which has now resolved. Will wait with interest to see what tomorrow brings.

57.5 Degrees of Pain
My walk at 9.36am was shifted east, then corrected after about 10-15 mins. Bike ride shortly afterwards was bang on from beginning to end. Using a 245.
