Looks like lactate threshold detection may be better on Garmin now (I wondered whether it would have improved at the same time as the race predictions were supposed to have been improved). The 6:24 mm it currently says seems reasonable for my current fitness, may even a bit fast, especially as it says threshold is at 181 which is high (expect that to calibrate as I run more). When I ran a sub 80 HM on Oct 2023 it was around 6:45 which is clearly nonsense and I was in peak form in July and it had it around 6:20. I think it probably should have been showing 30 secs faster than now in July.

SPR, thanks for the info. I may put it in track mode just to see what happens anyway.

I expect it will just work like standard GPS. I've never tried it off track though. The thing is on track the calibration along with telling it what lane you're in is essentially going to be telling it that an incorrect GPS point (say in lane 4 when you're in lane 1) is actually c distance in lane 1. My track intervals on Fetch splits don't work correctly and I expect that's due to Fetch trying to use the real GPS markers somehow. |

In a very surprising turn of events, my Garmin tracked the correct distance for my swim today. Not just by random addition either, all the sets were correct.
