Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

"I missed a quicker mate against Weath"

Alright, no need to rub it in! 🤣

One positive in the game where I played white was that I at least chose some correct moves during the later part of the game.

The more I think I'm getting to grips with this (puzzles, lessons etc.), the worse I actually become when on the board.

Quick look at previous position d7+ then Bxd7 but I can't see a follow up. First instinct would be Rc7+ then d7 threatens a nasty discovered check

Draw by agreement with SD, after my error to give back the piece that SD had given me by his error, I was on the defensive for the rest of the game so a nervous one for me.

Interestingly the error to give up a piece and then the subsequent error to return it were the only two mistakes in the game (no other inaccuracies or blunders).

Indeed, good game SPR! A fairly straight-forward encounter leading to the point where a draw was a good option, rather than one of those 'many pawn' endgames that are brain frying. No fireworks to thrill the spectator but enjoyable game, thanks. :)

Beat my BF again. (he is very rusty!). It's harder without the computer to tell you you can't move something! A couple of times he tried illegal moves and I got mate before I even realised.

I’m with Brian on our latest chess problem - Can’t see better than Rook check then pawn push discovered check, but I haven’t worked it through after that
