Made it to Wembley in the test cup AKA the semi finals. Two wins against Goofee. One hard, despite an error on move 11 to hand me a minor piece, the second a quick mate as Goofee must have lost concentration on a couple of moves.
Re the Angus vs Medals, while playing Surelynot, we discussed that a book opening tournament for sub 800 players would be a good way of learning openings.
In my games against runners, in my black game, I'm given my first check which should lead to a few more and a queen for rook swap, just got to make sure my queen doesn't get trapped in the chicken coop! Can't see a mate unfortunately but will have a bit of time to look in case I'm missing one as I don't expect him to move again today. In my game as white, I feel like I'm behind positionally so might be fighting to stay even without a mistake.
Indeed SPR, a couple of lapses in concentration, something I really need to address!
Just seen your message about forcing a draw, yes, I was thinking more about advancing a pawn but probably should have been more realistic. In truth I was enjoying playing almost instantly for a change so didn't take the time to think about the position objectively. Ver enjoyable though, thanks for the games!
No need to apologise, AC; I've learnt more from that game than from all the others put together. I can see where I went wrong and can look to avoid it in future. All my other games involve moving pieces and hoping for the best.
