GimmeMedals
We will use Brownhills for our annual habitation check whilst we get it free (1st 2 years) but then we will use an independent, local, mobile hab checker. He comes to the house and is half the cost, Rosehip, or he was when we last used him in 2021.

We use a mobile one too - lives just around the corner from us. If we go to the dealer it is an hours drive each way

What is they actually do, as a matter of interest (I’ve never had one)?

Rosehip
Check for damp, check the battery condition and electrical safety.
Leak test on the water systems
Gas safety check and test of CO/combustion for appliances - that sort of thing.
All makes sense to have done but at 3-4 hrs work it’s not cheap - tho’ I suppose the safety aspect is important

Couldn’t find a mobile tester locally and Brownhills are cheaper than the nearest dealer is GimmeMedals even taking the diesel to get there and back into account!

Our 10 year damp guarantee is only upheld if the habitation check is done by a Rollerteam dealership. The van will be 10 years old next year so I might go somewhere else cheaper after that. Saying that, I like the guy who does our van, it’s a very small dealership, and he often helps out in other ways while the van is in with him.

Nope we don’t have a yearly habitation check, it had one when we bought it.

Jelly I wouldn't either for your van. We do on the caravan as it checked the brakes, tyres, heating damp etc

I’d probably have one periodically mainly to check on gas and electric. Gas hoses perish over time so they do need changing occasionally. Unless you’re good with doing those checks yourself.

Phew - that was a close shave. Just booked a campsite for Saturday night. Then in the email response they said that there is a function on with very loud music until 1:30am. I went back to the website and sure enough, that message is also on there, but I hadn't noticed it.

Thankfully they've agreed to refund me, but that sounds horrendous. I can imagine our dog going nuts the whole night too.
