It’s hard to know what to make of this the quote I get now for SVR is £14 less than I am paying and I know in April I overpaid by £80. Now I know this is getting into the cheaper time of year, but I do wonder if I should reduce what I pay. But have half an eye on the winter when it will be more expensive again and think just let it go. |

Just looked at my energy bill for the last month - for the electricity 40% of it was the standing charge!

So, I've mentioned before I was paying £104 pm on a fixed rate tariff and was offered a renewal at £350 pm. I reverted to the standard tariff and the supplier set my DD at £180 pm. I've just had an email saying they're reducing it to £146pm!

Interesting that Nic. My supplier advised me to just let my current fixed tarriff lapse to standard, as it was cheaper AND prices are expected to come down...

Nick and Hanneke - it's refreshing to see some good news on your energy prices. My supplier suggest that I increase my DD by an additional £11 per month to £101, I wanted to pay more to build up a bit of a cushion for the winter but when I tried to set it to £120 it said I would be in too much credit and showed me a 😒 emoji. So I set it at £109 to get an 🙂 emoji |

Ive noticed that although I now pay £323 up from £195, they are now saying I should pay £307. I am leaving as is for now and taking monthly meter readings to see where I am before I decide if I try to reduce my payment

Had similar here, Nick - very confusing Spent a while today looking at mum’s Ovo account as it’s up for renewal, looks like sticking with variable rate for now is the best way forward, which is what I’m doing here. The fixed are an awful lot more than the variable. Might be a mistake, seems to be worth the gamble |

They won’t. Meanwhile millions spent on a jubilee celebration I am resigned to the fact I probably won’t be having the heating on this winter. I have blankets, long johns and a nice warm woolly hat. Luckily it’s quite mild here. |

Shocking! I have to wait until February 2024 before I can access a small pension pot which I thought would pay off my debts and pay for solar panels but it is barely going to touch the sides at this rate... |
