So could use a cardboard box as a base for pillows? Perhaps I’ll grab a few banana boxes at the supermarket

I would say that would work Fields. Practically, you insulate around your pan in a small space and the food cooks itself in its own heat.

I’m pretty sure I have a smart meter at my new house. It also displayed some sort of credit balance when I flicked through the menu - I think that means I’m on a digital top up meter, in any case I’m on a direct debit as of today and it claimed it would be £85 / month which frankly I find very hard to believe

Definitely not getting a smart meter! We have no phone signal here and wifi is off for about 20 hours per 24 if not completely...

Hanneke - smart meter doesn't run off householders wi-fi. It picks up signal from the new meter which transmits meter readings to energy provider. I find the smart meter quite useful so far.

We almost got a smart meter but when engineer came to fit it he gave up as the connection was too poor! That’s why I asked when shades said she had one! We turn tv/sky off at plug when not in use but nothing else
Never really thought about it tbh
