My two meters are too far apart for a smart meter. Apparently they need to be a max of 10m

I am with So energy. They haven't badgered me at all. I was with Scottish Power before, who badgered me but then left me alone when they realised we have no signal here, only over wifi, which doesn't work for them...
Before that I was with another company, don't remember whhich, who pretty much td me to get one or leave, so I left.

Energy suppliers nagged me for years to get a smart meter. I didn't want one as I'd heard that they weren't that reliable and it could be tricky when changing supplier. When my supplier went bust and now on a standard tariff I knew I wouldn't be changing supplier for quite a while so I agreed to have one.

But the 2nd generation of smart meters are far more reliable than the 1st. I don't switch it on very often once I'd sort of checked out what was using the most electricity etc. At the end of my first billing month I did go and read the actual meter too and invoice was accurate, I no longer supply meter readings to supplier. Smart meter does keep a running total of cost for the billing period so far as well as a breakdown by day if required.

Latest prediction for October is a whopping £3500 a year which is up £300 in a bit under 3 weeks from the last time Martin Lewis had the figures. That one said Jan was up 4% but this time simply saying up more.

bbc.co.uk

Adjusted operating profit for the six months ending in June rose to £1.34bn from £262m a year earlier.

Forgive my ignorance/naïvety, but I don't understand why bills are escalating so rapidly, when the companies are making about 5 times the profit from last year!

The headline shows it all JK. Centrica's objective is to increase shareholder wealth.

Just getting to grips with this, i know i'm massively behind, mrs lammo has been doing some work so we should be good, but by the end of next week i'll be clearer on what we're using and what we're paying for, rather than paying off the debt we built up, fingers crossed.

We are currently supplied by Eon, haven't looked at the app yet, the website is mickey mouse simple so thats OK

Scottish Power hiked our bills from £140pm to £285pm in the spring. As I speak, we're something like £800 in credit :-O :-( (but better than a deficit I suppose)

Discovered that if you go to 'Manage Direct Debit', it suggests a new value for your direct debit figure. I've logged in twice since the hike - the first time they suggested £251, and I've just done it now and it's suggested £231.

That said, I've just clicked 'Confirm Changes', and the spinny cursor is still going round, ten minutes later - but I think that happened last time.

Scottish Power fetch? Don't you live in Bedfordland? Mind you, I'm with Octopus and I don't live in the sea, so what's in a name?

Our leccy is fixed for a year at double the day rate and 50% more for overnight, with bills expected to be about 70% higher this year. Until... our solar gets installed, then I predict a 100% fall to... £0!

Oil (no gas here - we're a farm) has always fluctuated massively. Fortunately we really only use it in winter. But it's going to be a very expensive winter. :-) G

We’ve had word from our energy company that our direct debit from April onwards will be double the current amount. How’s everyone else fared?
