According to latest briefing those shielding can leave the house now and those alone can meet 1 person

Can I visit mum then?

Don't know you and your mum's specific circumstances EP, but hopefully you can work it out from :

"In England, those shielding will be advised that they can go outside once a day, with their household or, if they live alone, to meet one other person at a two-metre distance."

That’s the impression I got, Pix. My Mum is only a 15 minute drive away though and I’ve already been dropping off food/essential items once a week. I’ve been dropping things in her garage and wearing gloves/mask while there. Now I can go and sit in her garden and have a drink with her, I think, if I maintain social distancing.

That’s the way I’m interpreting it anyway.

That’s what I thought too

I’m also guessing because we can now drive wherever to exercise the 125m isn’t an issue!

I've been shielding and dreaming of the day that I can run outside again (I can manage 30 mins round and round the garden, but it's too small for GPS pacing). But not sure how I feel about venturing out yet.... might just give it another 2 weeks anyway

i think caution is a good thing, Margarita. How quiet is it where you live? Can you venture out at a quiet time of day and be able to keep away from others?

you may be better off having a few trips outside now before it gets worse again...

I think we'd probably stay home longer too Margarita, if we weren't pretty confident that we can find some less popular New Forest places that friends have reported are basically empty, and easy to keep far more than 2 metres away if you happen to spot someone.

Yes, UM, we're aware of the areas to avoid for ground nesting birds too. My running club had a meeting with the Forestry bods last year, to discuss where they wanted us to avoid.

JSA that was my thinking about visiting mum
Do it before things get worse
Even the official government graphs make it look worrying

What does your modelling say?
