The new NE guidance makes very little sense. We are in lockdown supposedly but I can still go to work, go shopping, go running with others potentially strangers as a club session but advised against running with friends who I could very easily track and trace. Back to not being able to see people in their homes or gardens but according to Newcastle director of public health it would be ok to see people in parks if we adhere to the 2m rule. Its all very confusing

Today we attended Holy Communion for the first time since lockdown. All was done very carefully according to new rules. It was very different from the services we used to have, but very special.

Eldest went ringing this morning for the first time since March - only on half the bells so as to maintain distance and it sounded a bit odd on 3, but it was ringing

good to hear of some "normal" activities happening even thought they have needed to be adapted. We need lots of these types of adaptions and people willing to rethink ideas.

Daughter has a bit of a snotty cold, (no Covid symptoms) she is thinking she might not go to school tomorrow as it is now so much more possible to join the lessons from home and doesn't want to spread her cold. Previously she would probably have just gone in.

^^ I've posted it here because it is one of those things that matter hugely, but somehow never bubble to the top of the list of deprivations. A couple days ago one of my grandchildren saw me at distance of about 10 metres, broke free and ran full pelt to me with arms outstretched. I'd caught him as he jumped into a huge hug before my brain said, "This isn't allowed."

It was such a wonderful moment and a reminder that we're all balancing our emotions and rational thoughts and yearning to be with people and do the stuff that brings meaning to our lives, yet also avoid adding to human damage by recklessness and selfishness. It's a tough call for all of us.

The bell ringing and communion sound very special.

DocM- same here. Marigold is a bit snotty, bit sore-throaty, bit *meh* We have had an email about joining lessons on zoom, I need to read it properly and see if she can do that

That was at Beneā€™ts. GSM sounded better as they could ring on 6 from 12 :-)

She hates missing school tho so she will probably choose to go in (that makes her sound really keen, she isn't, but she does enjoy most aspects of school)
