Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

RotS - to explain - I've created a second thread for the broader discussions around the rights and wrongs of coronavirus policies etc - there's a link to that in the 'About This Thread' box over on the right.

The intention is to leave this thread for its original purpose, which is for support. Obviously there's a bit of crossover, in that policies DO affect our families - so I'm also going to rename this thread to the 'Coronavirus Support thread' - to make things a bit clearer.

Thanks again Fetch. This must be taking up a fair bit of your time. A shame it's required.

On this crazy local restriction (NE) my parents had been enjoying watching their nephew play cricket in our local town ground. Holds 3000 people weekly attendance 50-70 the can be so far removed from other spectators it was very safe. Bar was open they could get a beer/wine/coffee.

New guidance says they can’t spectate at the ground BUT they can watch from the bar (it has large picture windows across the back of the room) so the could go sit at a table and have other people breathe all over them. Thankfully they didn’t go but how is this helping prevent the spread when that bar will have been busy even if they managed to keep them ‘suitably’ distanced.

I am so sad for them it was their one trip out a week to do something they enjoyed. They met my auntie and uncle but we’re always able to see them but at a safer than safe distance.

That sounds bonkers. I assume it must be a general rule that just doesn't suit that individual setting

It’s the daft guidance it makes little sense.
