Carpathius
That's ridiculous Rosehip, he should be a priority. Mr Carp works as a "social prescriber" for the CAB, and would in normal times see people referred for social/housing/legal needs from GP surgeries. Obviously these have been taking place via video, 'phone and email and he can work from home. And yet because they work with the NHS, the CCG has decided they count as healthcare workers and will get the vaccine very soon. I don't see why they should be prioritised to be honest. I daren't say that though! |

Fragile Do Not Bend
My mum (77) is having her jab tomorrow. I made sure she understood that, once she’s had it, she should still behave as if she hadn’t had a jab.

Now the government is reporting that only 17% of people with symptoms are getting themselves tested. Does that mean that 5/6 of people with the disease aren't hit hard by it? |

I had mine early on. I do little face to face. However if I get covid I could take out a significant part of urgent musculoskeletal provision in my area. I had my jab without any sense of guilt for that reason.

Goig back to a topic from a week or so ago, I had a fall while out running tonight. I didnt need to trouble the NHS though as I only lost a little bit of skin on my knee. Ironically I negotiated 2.5 miles of snow and ice before tripping on an uneven paving stone on central edinburgh where the snow had been cleared and gritted. |

Where did that number come from Chris it sounds implausible to me. We are getting about 40k positive tests per day, if there 5x as many with symptoms who are untested and half as many again symptomless (1/3rd of total cases) that would be 360k infections per day. Not happening.

They were using the figure to justify spending £500 on every individual forced to self isolate, irrespective of income levels. It's quoted here theguardian.com from a cabinet office survey. |
