Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I was wondering last night about the viability of parkrun if they don’t get started soon. A year out isn’t great and sponsors might not see it as a good return on investment at present.

I think the problem with events is that they have to start planning and spending months out and if they have to pull the event it will cost even more so they may not take the risk

Once parkrun starts there will be a huge demand for it I reckon
Hoping adventure races will start again once restrictions ease, I’ve got a couple of races deferred since last year, one is in June I think and only 400 entries at my distance so surely that should be possible?

I think it's safer to assume nothing is really going to happen this year. I'm certainly not going to book anything. This isn't a massive problem for me but I appreciate that it's going to be very tough for some people.

I did a 5k in Dec whilst in Tier 2 very safe.

Sort of rolling GP grid type start. Big open space ( airfield) I think events will go ahead but planning and organisation will be key.

I worry not about those turning up but others in the park or wherever it takes place. A lot of dog walkers who have now got used to having the place to themselves wont like it when suddenly faced with hundreds of runners, especially if at close range.
Ones on National Trust properties will probably be the best ones to restart, but they have committed to opening them all up at the same time so not sure how that will go.
I was just thinking that back in November there was talk of the junior parkruns restarting about now, it seems so long ago that there was that optimism.

Given the problems getting players to the Australian Open, I can't see how the Olympics will be able to happen. Athletes won't want to go through the required quarantine, and some will test positive anyway.
