I think Schwalbes are seen as the real deal when it comes to puncture resistance, where as a lot of the others manufacturers who claim to be p*ncture "resistant" tend to struggle with reliability.

See further up - they are (IIRC - its wet outside else I'd check) what's on my hybrid. Excellent. One puncture in the last 1,000-odd miles.

Hello, If I am in the wrong place to ask this question then please tell me. I am looking for my first bike so I can train for a tri. I have about £500 to play with. I haven't ridden a bike for 20 years but I run quite a lot. The fizz said I should take up tri's. I have heard good things about the triandrun bikes (which may be discounted at the London tri expo on Saturday) and also the most basic specialized allez 2008 which can be picked up new for £450. What do people recommend I should do. I am not really comfortable buying second hand on ebay just because I don't yet know how to tell if a bike is in good condition. Any advice is much appreciated. (apologies if I am in the wrong place to ask this question.) |

Just looked at conti gator skins, they look a bit a bit slick for venturing up the odd muddy tow path I know its a compromise but the Schwalbe Marathon Cross tyres look a bit more tready and grippier jejamescycles.co.uk |

Hi raoul, welcome to the bike thread. You are in the right place I have been off my bike for almost a year now, so I am not the best person to ask for advice, I am going to have a ride out tomorrow unless it is teeming it down. So I was just coming in here to reacquaint myself with the thread and say hi again. |
