Interestingly, we bought our company bikes, Dahon helios foldups, from Halfords in Holland, as they are 500 euro's there as opposed to them being £500 here. The shop we bought them from looked neat and tidy, had a good workshop attached (something one rarely sees in the Halfords branches in the uk) and had highly competent staff. The bikes were assembled and checked over profesionally. The difference between Halfords in Holland and Halfords in the UK is incredible!

To be fair, the same could be said of Ikea in Sweden, which is a cheap and cheerful furniture shop like MFI over here. As opposed to the UK variant, which we all know about.

I think the shops vary from town to town, I have had bad experience from the one in bury, but good ones from the one in Thetford, am seriously considering the boardman comp now, sorry greg, but it got 9/10 in 220 review! and it would only be £24 a month.

I'm not saying they aren't good bikes, RT - C+ loves them. But really. Halfords, for all love. It really is like buying your running shoes from C&A. No matter how good they are, you'll know, and everyone else will know...

Trek 1.5 has gone back for new bottom bracket bearings on warranty. I've been in love with it since Febraury since I got it so neglected the Trek 6500 MTB at the back of the garage. Cutting a long story short after a blast yesterday I'm back in love with the MTB now (until the 1.5 is repaired :) )

I've had road tyres on the MTB for 1700 miles and so refitted the original knobblies when the 1.5 landed. I'm planning to use the MTB for over winter commuting so in the near future I want to replace the rumble strip knobblies with some more road friendly hybrid type tyres.

Puncture resistance is important, so finally getting round to the point of this post ........... has any one had any experience of Schwalbe Marathon Cross tyres?

Think those were the ones rhb was recommending. I've got the Conti touring tyres (NOT Top Touring - think they are gatorskin or somesuch) on my hybrid and love them.
