Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

Go-KL Still to date my personal beat for the half marathon and the only time I have dipped under 1hour20 for the 1/2 Marathon.
Was training hard for a marathon but not really following any fixed structure, except I was running often and quick and cycling to and from work around 120 miles a week.
My best until then was a 1:22 the previous October but this run felt special from the off. It was unusual in that I had decided to wake up at 3am to watch the Australian GP before heading down the 100 miles or so to Reading, arriving late so I had to run from the car park to the start. Maybe it was the extra hours up or the run down that helped, or maybe it hindered and I could have gone even faster but whatever, this, to date, is my most satisfying race to date - better even than my sub 3 marathon.
To feel relaxed up until 10 miles then notch off three sub 6 minute miles whilst it all felt so easy was enormously satisfying. Indeed had I really pushed myself I reckon I could have gone a good minute faster.
I still have the picture of me finishing - it is one of my favourites. Hopefully soon I can get back to that sort of pace - until then I have the great memories of this race.
