Marcus Well, it turned out nice again. First nice surprise of the day was bumping into Conan & Lindsay, who weren't going to be there!

Second surprise was getting papped by the Chronicle Photographer on the way to the start - which delayed my arrival there by several minutes, hence....

Anyway, as usual, everyone ignored the instructions to start further back if you're slower, so the first 2 miles were spent weaving through 100s of runners on the main road- plenty of space to do it though. This is the reason why I always use chip times for big races not the official version (gun time) - it took nearly 45 seconds to reach the start. Back to the race, well, the sun was shining, the wind was blowing a bit, and the course was wonderful. Just twisty and undulating enough to be interesting without slowing you down too much. I lost about a minute to the uphills on miles 9 and 10, but ran the last two downhill in 12:50 so overall honours pretty much even.

Thoroughly enjoyed this one, managed to exchange a few words with runners and marshalls (including one who thought my 999 number funny - so did I), and never really felt like I was overdoing it until the last 3 miles - which is the RIGHT time to overdo it!

I nearly caught big George from Wesham RR at 11 miles, guessed he was going for 90, and tried to keep him in view back to the finish. I think the plan worked, my watch time was 1:29:59, bang on target, so I only hope the official timing system agrees! If it does, I owe him a drink!

Well done

Is@@c What a turn out by Stockport Harriers !

Great weather for racing and we just avoided the rain.

I need to learn push myself whilst racing - overall I'm pleased as it was 2 mins quicker than 2006.

Sezz I don't expect miracles here. I've had a disastrous year in 2006 in terms of running/racing so am really having to start from scratch again. If I make 2:10 then I'll be fairly satisfied, though 5 mins slower than my PB. UPDATE: Ran 2:11:08 (watch time, awaiting chip time). Hopefully 2007 will be a better year running wise.

fatface I've so far managed to stay cold free for 3 months so if that continues for the next 3 weeks I might run slightly quicker than my prediction. Who knows? I just love this race, it's my 6th time there but I agree with others when they say it definately is not flat but has PB potential.

Slick organisation as usual. The weather was very kind to us as it was a beautiful sunny morning. The promised rain and hail didn't start until around 1:30pm.

I was happy to finish around 2 minutes inside my target, but can't help but feel a little disappointed to not achieve a PB when I was a minute up on PB pace at 8 miles. Then the wheels fell off somewhat. I think the cause was possibly doing my long training runs at too slow a pace and setting off a little too quickly on race day.

Still, a good day and I enjoyed it immensely.

Should Av Run Quicker If my training keeps at the rate I'm doing I may sneak in a pb here, or may not. It's not a flat course (though some people seem to think it is, IT ISN'T FLAT) but seems fairly quick for some reason.
Went off to a flying start and hit 10km in 39mins, then at 7.5miles hit the first hill which I'm not good at and I reckon put in a couple of 7.15 min miles, felt terrible between 7 and 10 miles (40 or so runners must have passed me), but got a second wind up the last short hill which didn't cause any problems, felt good on the run in and made up quite a few places, not a bad day in the wind.

RunningBob Hopefully I can improve on last years when ITB injury forced a slow trot for the last few miles.

This is a nice but challenging course on pleasant quiet country roads. Starts off pretty flat but long steady hill from around 8 followed by bigger hills at 10-11. Nice long downhill 12-13. Obviously usually cold - it is quite exposed and can be icy.

Had a cold + barely run since New Year. Hopefully I'll run but no bets please ;-)

So lucky with the sunny morning. Nice race. Felt a bit stiff and rusty after the layoff but managed steady 1:16. 26th overall 4th V40.

jolguk Yay! A couple of minutes off my PB, and even under 1:40. I was aware that I was doing pretty well, but I wasn't really watching the mile splits, and I started puking, in my usual style, just after the 13 mile marker, so when I stopped the watch my time made me laugh a lot. Organisation of the race seemed pretty good, and big marks for the lady who fastened my trainers back up when I handed my chip in, and the tea and biscuits. However I didn't like the description of the course in the bumph as flat till 8 miles, then a climb, then downhill. I'd say it was just constantly undulating. It was lovely to meet a couple of Fetchies - Tigger and Nigel (Cat something on here). And some great times from all these and some of my club members.

BigG The race itself was pretty good, but the result was disappointing. My only gripe about the organisation would be the pretty chaotic start. Other than that, it was a nice course, with a few hills, but nothing too challenging.
I'm not sure why I was 2-3 mins slower than expected. Maybe due to the tail end of a cold, a hard training week or lack of carbs the previous day. Hopefully it's not just because I'm getting old and past it!

RobH Great race, timed perfectly to exploit the 3/4 hours of clear blue skies between torrential rain/showers early morning and afternoon! My race went pretty much to plan, just below target pace for first 7 miles, lost some time to the hills on miles 8 and 9, 10 and 11 back on schedule then super quick 12th mile all downhill and hung on to the finish as I could see that my target of sub 1:30 was a goer. PB by more than 6 minutes which can't be bad. Also the first outing for our brand new Manchester Tri running vests which are very fine indeed.
