Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Seeing the prospect of rewriting physics being described as "a non-trivial exercise" amused me for some reason :) I like it, thanks MM (not that I can try and pretend to understand it)!

I tend to use the DT62 for the hillier (non-Alpe) rides as they are a lot more aero at speed and only slightly less good up hill than the enve 3.4. But this is a close judgement and I don’t really know what is best. Zipp 808 is the best flat choice for low-level riders.

Tron coming soon though - only 4000m to go, there’s probably a route for that!

JDA - yeap I had 808s until I got 858s - like I say as much as it pains me I learned to play the game

Rode with the C Cadence pacer yesterday and noticed a huge positive difference riding in the pack compared to last time because I had aero wheels on (808s I think), instead of the lightweight climbing wheels I'd defaulted to. Lesson learned. Think I've got a decent setup now with the Aeroroad plus 808s; best I can get for the Level 13 status on a flat route.

Yes larkim that’s what I ride a good 90-95% of the time, DT62 occasionally on hillier rides. I’ll probably switch to the tron when I get it but this and the very top bikes offer only marginal improvement AIUI.

Did use the Tarmac pro and meilenstein for the Alpe effort but that is a very special case and I’ve only done it twice since getting that kit.

Yeah good point I did wonder about that. Think I used the canyon/DT62 for the ZRL race. Quite a lot of the climb seems a bit flatter and faster than the Alpe, but perhaps not fast enough for aero to count for much.

The ZHR masters race does three circuits of that hill in a few weeks so that’s one to ponder for sure. If I don’t have the tron by the start I should by the end :-)

I just ride the tron bike, I rarely have time to think about changing it.

Did a crit race at lunch, I'd like to get up to A+ before it gets too warm to Zwift.

4.6 w/kg appears to be the target in 3 races so that's 358 watts for 20 minutes at the moment. Only managed 351w today so that's not going to count. In addition I have gone sugary treats free from today to shed some weight. Finished 4th according to ZP.

I have the tron as my default but for big climbs I try to remember to change it.
