Good point Gobi but I am not sure I am going to be massively over-achieving in the next two ![]() |

First race done, one round the Champs Elysees because I know that one. 35/83 (19/36 on ZwiftPower results?), so respectable midpack. Survived the initial starting sprint in about 18th, saw the winning group go, and a few stragglers behind, as I dropped down to a more natural pace, I stayed in the second proper pack as we hoovered up a few stragglers, I lurched between 27th and 36th, I slightly let the gap open up with 600m to go, which is kind of my usual place in a race to die a bit, I have a sprint but I quite often get killed off before I get to use it. Even paced for both laps 9.55/9.57 (but we're not marathon running here are we?) and 3.1w/kg so that puts me right at the top of cat c, whereas my weight puts me near the bottom. It was fun, it was noticeable I made up ground on any sort of climb, my phone was disconnected from wifi so I didn't get to use any power ups :-(. But I think I there's more to come, if I can survive that little blip at the not quite the end, there would have been 9 or 10 places to be had, I was only 4 seconds behind the guy 9 places ahead, but I needed not to lose the pack. And I probably need to find a hillier course... |

Oh and bikes and the zwift drops, I have a million of them now, I can spend them right? Or should I carry on saving what's the deal?

Chrisull, well done. Sounds like you enjoyed it? ZwiftInsider has a guide on what to buy mainly based on what level you're at. zwiftinsider.com |

Should have added, it's probably not the best approach to buy what you can at each level, but maybe save some for better kit at a later level. I.E, level 10 has a "must buy" Canyon Aeroad, whilst level 13 has must buy Zipp 808 wheels, so save enough drops to buy that kit when you get to that level. Well, that's what I did, anyway.

Anyone doing Zwift running notice that it isn't transferring as a run anymore. It comes up as run/virtual ride then in the main log the part where you put what type of run that part is blank. The run is adding up as a run but not like it was before. |

Chrisull, you will almost certainly find race performance increases substantially with a bit of experience. I was completely rubbish for about a month. Not that I’m great now but you learn the way things go. Especially if you repeat the same sort of race with the same sort of opponents. People tend to have their weekly habits. There’s only a handful of frames and wheels that are really worth buying at all in terms of race performance. |

Got the Enve wheelset tonight too which means I'm pretty sure I've got a decent option for flat or climbing to pair with the Aeroroad. Though with gains of 5-10s on the whole of the Alpe, it is a bit a much of a muchness!!
