I realised just how fast he was last year when looking to calculate the fastest time on standard for our club series, and of those eligible, he'd taken that prize before I'd even applied the vet factor!

Gobi, according to ZP you were narrowly beaten by a B pushing out well over 400W at 5.0

Nice one Gobi, big watts for that long. My FTP is a mystery as I haven't done a test for ages, I suspect the current Zwift one is a little optimistic.

yes , he rode 4.8 and was 5 seconds up the road, not sure how the game accounts for that , they even got a better start as we rolled out the pen if you watch it. I know on the flat power comes into it more but I put out a lot of power .
I was on an Sworks in an aero helmet with the 858 and super 9 so about as good a set up as ZWIFT offers
I have analyzed the race in WKO and I rode 404 for 5 mins and 396 for best part of 8 - ZP should still update for me :¬0
Discounted the spurious B :¬)

Crikey - over 300W for 1 minute is a serious effort for me!

Three weeks of the FTP builder plan done, the faster cadence stuff is getting much more comfortable now that I'm getting used to it. No real idea what actual development of cycling prowess is developing in the absence of any benchmark activities (e.g. if I was running I might do a parkrun as a test) but there are enough different styles of rides coming along in the next couple of weeks to maintain interest to the end. Talk of 300W efforts makes it tempting to ride the FTP ramp test, but I'll steer clear for now!
For someone who weighs a similar amount to Gobi, I can't begin to comprehend the strength and endurance needed to hold that sort of power!! Hard work, sensible training, natural talent all aligning I guess (with the emphasis on the first two?).

Larks - I'm prepared to accept I do have a little natural talent and a good engine from years of Endurance sport but yes the first 2, the trick is knowing where hard stops and what is sensible training ?
My average cadence today was about 95 with some stamping(60s) and some spinning (towards 120).
Having watched the stream I should probably have changed gear in both directions but when you are holding 400 oddwatts at both ends you sort of stop worrying.

again it all depends where you stand in a line as well, Marigold got on a stationary bike last year and is already an A plus. I have been riding and training well for the last 12 years and am only tapping the door of that power. Granted I am fatter and older :¬)
