250 is a long old ride!
230 miles is my longest ride outside, back from the mother-in-law's house last year. No races on so I needed to do something daft. I can't imagined going much further as I have no desire to ride in the dark.

I don't generally mind laps too much. In running, I've done a couple of track marathons, and other lapped courses for 6hr events etc. Locally, there is a bike track that is 1-mile long and I quite like it for sessions, or even an easy ride. I find, certainly with running, that if I have a rough target in mind for each lap I like to try and stick to it which I find motivating. Don't get me wrong, I much prefer a scenic single-lapper, but I don't mind lapped events.
Uber Pretzel is my longest ride, inside or out, at 89-miles (which included the downhill of the AdZ at the end, where I wasn't actually on the bike.....!).

That is a word for it (says the man who did 3 x 24hr solo mtb races and a 24hr team bike event in 5 months)

Gobi, sounds good. I did a 10k in Netherlands a few years ago, which was 2 laps. It was funny as I was chatting to the RD at the start, and he warned me of "the hill", which we'd have to do twice. Needless to say, it may have been a hill for Dutch standards, but really it should have been described as "a slope" or in the UK it probably wouldn't have been noted as anything! That was a great race though - I think I paid about €5, it was organised by a club, it was chip timed, it started and ended on an athletics track, and as it was around Xmas there was as much Oliebollen (Dutch, spherical doughnuts) and coffee as I could stomach :D Ahhh, I miss travelling a lot!
The most laps I've done is in a track marathon - 105 laps. I felt great afterwards though as it's so easy on the legs, so I did another marathon the day after somewhere on the Thames path

I did a controlled 49:xx last time Gobi so will be giving it a bit more oomph this time, would like to be close to 45ish but that sounds hard and the only people I know who've done that are serious climbers!

45 is about 4.4 WKG I think - so it is a very good effort for sure
