The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free.
But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient.
Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead.
Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?
I would say you don't really "sense" a draft in that way in the game whatever your trainer is. You are going a bit faster, the speed indicator is showing a larger number and the scenery moves a bit quicker on the screen but you don't get the visceral sense of speed that you do with real outdoor riding in a fast bunch. 300W on the flat is 300W on the flat, you just go a lot quicker if there's someone doing 400W a meter in front of you!
4.37W/kg for 15 mins for me in the first chunk of the duathlon this morning (and I didn't even fall over at that point, it was just my planned session). I reckon that means I should have a go in some proper A races and get a kicking.
It may depend on the trainer, and it's not as dramatic as on the road, but you can feel the change in resistance when you hit a sizeable draft with our Neo. It's not just that you have to consciously drop your power to not overshoot - you get that feedback through the pedals that you're on (or off)
Much like on the road, I find it impacts your pedaling, inducing a higher average cadence in the bunch than when solo (e.g TTing). I wouldn't expect that if it wasn't altering resistance.
And I imagine the tricky bit is quickly and meaningfully calculating the effect of drag in a bunch overall, which will be needed for any drafting effect. Once you've done that, it's probably not much of a step to include it in a resistance setting sent to the trainer, especially if you're already sending a gradient based setting over.
My new Wattbike Atom is due to arrive tomorrow. I am very intrigued as to how it will behave / feel, and whether it is worth the ‘upgrade’ (or downgrade depending on your viewpoint).
YP - I must apologise to you. I was coming down Pot Bank today (for real, not on the Zwift route) and it occurred to me that last Autumn the gate was removed and quite a robust wall put there instead. I'm surprised it's lasted the winter, so many cars have been through that gate/wall it's shocking ..... maybe that's because of the reduced CV-19 traffic load.
Really enjoyed the TTT this evening. They were a good/welcoming bunch and I was quite pleased with my own performance. Once or twice when I went to the front, I did overshoot the group but I wasn't the only one to do it and I suppose that gets better with practice. Also, from a personal point of view - as I've noticed in other races - I did fall off the back on hills so probably I need to try and work on that. I enjoyed it though and I did formally get upgraded to Cat B, so at least that's done now.
