I agree with Old Croc. I went once on a Friday when I was doing a tri on the Sunday. They told me not to donate and booked me in for a later session.

That's what I thought OC. I want to wait a few weeks anyway really so that I can kick my epo system into gear ahead of Abingdon!

I'm doing well this year. Gave in Jan and again in May. One more to go and that's my lot for 2009! Getting hard to fit it round training and races. But... I ahve discovered that I can run (gently) the day after giving blood. Gave blood at 7pm, gentle training run at 12pm the next day. Felt fine. Keep up the good work. Happy donating everyone! :-)G

Hello all

Glad I spotted this - I became available again a couple of weeks ago but I've been putting it off until after my first race this Sunday. Must get down there for my free cuppa and biccies next week.

I gave 23 times before I was 30 and never again - I travel a lot with work and vist countries deemed as "unclean" by the NHS - mainly Turkey and Middle East. It's as if just visiting the country means I'm assumed to have Hepatitis or summat

Last week. They called me as I hadn't donated for a while & were low on A positive apparently.

It was my excuse for a poor 10K this week, would you still expect some effect after 7 days?

Give every chance I can even if it's before a race, I'd just take it easy because lets be fair, what's more important out of the two things, a PB or someone's life??

good point gooner

gave platelets yesterday for first time in a few years (they wanted my full blood more in recent times). Is a longer process - about 90 mins to 2 hours and you give more regular.

Got a bag and t shirt for my troubles - was like finishing a race and getting goody bag!
