mrs shanksi Aug 2009 1:42pm, 25 Aug 2009 161 posts	0 mrs shanksi I gave blood in June and ended up with a big bruise and numb arm . First time that's happened to me. My arm is still a bit tingly from time to time. My GP said I had nerve damage but it should recover soon.

I tried again earlier this year but they wouldn't accept me and have taken me off the donor register (I've given blood 4 times and on each occassion I feel very faint/sick a few minutes afterwards - apparently that constitutes a risk they can't take)

I can't give any more because I had a transfusion as a teenager and they've stopped you giving if you've been transfused since ??1980ish??? - check the date with them if you're thinking of giving. I'm not sure I'd be here without so thanks to all of you and keep up the good work.
