Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I am hoping that at somepoint I could find myself in an area where there is an orienteering option I wouldnt print the map but would like to follow the route on the phone.

I'm just trying to figure out whether to put this under Train, Race, or Games...

Right then, some updates:

1) the leaderboard for each course now shows the date of each attempt.
2) likewise, the attempts are colour coded to indicate run/bike/walk.
3) leaderboards are ordered first by total number of flags; then by the total time of the attempt; and finally by the total distance accrued by the competitor.
4) you should now receive a notification when the game recognises a course attempt; you also get a notification if any other player attempts one of your courses.
5) I've updated the game guide - please post here if anything is unclear.
6) I've added a permanent link in the menus at Games > Orienteering.
7) Naming your flags when building a course is now mandatory.
8) hopefully behaving reasonably well on mobile.

Still to do:
8) stats on a per-flag basis e.g. number of times collected, quickest collect, etc.
9) ability to overlay attempts on the map
10) badges!!
11) figure out what happens if a course requires editing (e.g. what happens to existing attempts)
12) ability to overlay course when plotting a route.

There are now three more badges to collect, to add to the one for creating a course:

2) collect all the flags on any course
3) collect all the flags on a course built by someone else
4) collect all the flags on any five courses

It’s probably me but I’ve just had a go at doing my route and I’ve not had any notifications of how it went (and no badge!).
I loaded it about 20 minutes ago…

About This Thread

Maintained by fetcheveryone
I had an idea the other day whilst walking with Katie. A lot of Fetch games rely on randomly-placed markers to encourage you to vary your routes - but what if you could design your own virtual orienteering course? Drop a dozen or so virtual flags on the map, and then you've got a challenge for yourself and anyone else who is passing through the area.

I've built some pages that allow you to construct a course:

fetcheveryone.com/ori

There are some notes on that page ...
