Good luck @Big_G! I feel like I should have probably come on the thread before pressing my mile and 5k buttons. Having money on you definitely ramps up the pressure.

I'm going to have to do it on snow and my test run yesterday felt like a pretty intense effort but was still about 10 secs per km off the pace.

Going to have another crack today and then there's a Parkrun on Saturday morning as a last opportunity...

I didn't do the mile today, my legs haven't quite recovered from the paarlauf yet, my hamstrings tightened up after 600 m so I left it at 800m. I said hi to my fat twitch fibres but they weren't up for a chat.

I'm going to give this another go on Friday so your bets aren't lost. I think was underfuelled as well so I'll make sure I'm better fed next time. Fast horses need to feed 😆

Had a crack at the mile in the snow again and came up 8 seconds short but we were sledging after so I had more layers on than ideal and like @tipsku I was probably underfueled. I think with just leggings and no thermals and probably 2 rather than four layers I should be OK. Obviously a track would be great but I don't think there's one near here.

The influx of bets means the pressure is really mounting here...

Weather still looks pretty pants on Sunday but I'm going to suck it up and race anyway. Maybe there will be some tailwind to offset the headwind!

I've marked my 10k and 5m benchmarks - I wouldn't bet your full wealth on me, but I hope I can chip something off these if possible.
