I started near the front and got passed by lots of quicker runners then tried to hold on. I looked at my watch after the finish line and it was short of 5k!😲 So I had to grab my token and run into the park until it was definitely over 5k. Success! I beat my last benchmark time, by 35 secs for 5k and 4 seconds for the mile. Win - win

It took a few seconds to clear the crowds at the start so I made sure to push on beyond the 1.6km mark a bit. Then it was a case of hanging on (and dreading the inevitable uphill!) I would have earned punters a fair bit on 5k too, but for the fact that a) I don’t have enough 5k runs on the board, and b) I measured a fraction short
