Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

Also... I've made the whole thing opt-in - but I've opted in everyone who has made a course. If you want to see your times against the courses, you need to click the button labelled 'Join the Game' (it'll be labelled 'Leave the Game' if you're already signed up).

If for some reason the matching doesn't work, don't panic. Whilst we're still in the testing phase, I am happy to stick any failed runs back into the game queue once I've worked out what went wrong :-) But it worked out ok with my test course (which I designed to roughly correspond to the run I did earlier).

I've added a very basic table of attempts - you can see it here on my test course:

fetcheveryone.com/ori-course.php?id=52

Obvious additions during my next coding session:

1) dates of attempts
2) sift by run/bike/walk
3) leaderboard ordering based on column headings
4) stats on a per-flag basis e.g. shortest distance/time to collect, most collected
5) overlay routes on map
6) notifications when you've done a course
7) badges
8) layout / mobile friendly / usability tweaks
9) editing policy e.g. renaming points, but also... what happens if a point is/becomes inaccessible? What happens to existing records?
10) overlay when plotting routes

Shout out if you have any suggestions :-)

Question: if I do a course as part as a longer session will it just extract the part 'between the start/finish marker
This then made me think of another question - what if the optimum route (or the route I pick)goes through the start/finish but I'm not dobbing out?

You have to start at the start, it doesn’t check all runs.

Under the current way of things, you don’t need to get back to the start/finish flag, you just need to grab as many as you can.

Darn it the one of my maps I did I had forgot to create map so start point is totally wrong (for me at least 🤣) I’ll redo it.

About This Thread

Maintained by fetcheveryone
I had an idea the other day whilst walking with Katie. A lot of Fetch games rely on randomly-placed markers to encourage you to vary your routes - but what if you could design your own virtual orienteering course? Drop a dozen or so virtual flags on the map, and then you've got a challenge for yourself and anyone else who is passing through the area.

I've built some pages that allow you to construct a course:

fetcheveryone.com/ori

There are some notes on that page ...
