Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

My start-point is about 4 miles away from where I live - if I were to do a single long run from home, and then back again, would the game just count the distance and time between when I run through the start-point and past the last of the flags?

Missed that requirement 😖 todays run was tough in the humidity and sun and I thought no keep going see how this works. I had realised I’d picked up some flags from another route but that they’d not count as I hadn’t passed go.

I just got around to building a course - and then saw EdJ has made a very similar one

Is this a problem if we have overlapping courses with flags in aboutthe same place or should I delete mine?

I'm late to the party, but is it assumed that people will print out the maps with flags and orient to them? Making them into a course with flags on Garmin, for instance, seems like cheating.

You're welcome to print out a map and do it on the fly - but I expect people will plan their route in advance - and there's no obvious way of preventing that, so it's safer to assume that it will happen.

About This Thread

I had an idea the other day whilst walking with Katie. A lot of Fetch games rely on randomly-placed markers to encourage you to vary your routes - but what if you could design your own virtual orienteering course? Drop a dozen or so virtual flags on the map, and then you've got a challenge for yourself and anyone else who is passing through the area.

I've built some pages that allow you to construct a course:

fetcheveryone.com/ori

There are some notes on that page ...
